🌳 Inspiration: Psalm 23 Meets Imagination
The idea for Mercy Meadows sprouted from one of the most beloved Psalms: "He maketh me to lie down in green pastures..." (Psalm 23:2). The serene, rolling hills of Mercy Meadows reflect God’s promise of peace, rest, and restoration. But we couldn’t stop there—why not add a glowing Lantern Tree or a sparkling stream where friends gather for reflection and adventure?
🎨 Designing the World
Bringing Mercy Meadows to life was like painting a picture with words. Each tree, flower, and critter has a purpose. Waffles’ home, a cozy tree stump adorned with acorn garlands, reflects her curious and nurturing spirit. Meanwhile, the Lantern Tree—always glowing with warmth—symbolizes God’s ever-present light, even during life’s storms.
Fun Fact: Did you know the Lantern Tree was inspired by fireflies? We imagined what it would be like if their glow never faded. A tree that holds that light felt like the perfect addition to Mercy Meadows!
🌟 Characters in Their Natural Habitat
Every character has a special spot in Mercy Meadows. Mr. Ribbit, the wise frog, loves the still waters by the Reflection Pond. Hammy, the pancake-loving pig, can often be found near the Berry Patch, where wild berries grow in abundance (perfect for pancake toppings, of course!). Waffles and her friends often gather at the Field of Hope—a sunny open space that invites play and deep conversations.
💡 Hidden Treasures
Mercy Meadows is full of Easter eggs! We love adding hidden details for readers to discover. Look closely in each story, and you might find a hidden Ichthys (Jesus fish) symbol, a nod to God’s ever-present love. And who knows? You might also stumble upon Hammy’s secret pancake stash or one of Bacon’s buried treasures!
